Scotch Eggs
A Scotch egg is a snack food of Scottish origin consisting of a hard-boiled egg, removed from its shell, wrapped in a sausage meat mixture, coated in breadcrumbs and deep-fried. It is eaten cold, typically with salad and pickles.
Ingredients:
1) 4 hard boiled eggs
2) ½ lb pork sausage meat
3) 1 tablespoon chopped mixed herbs
4) Salt & pepper (to taste)
5) Seasoned flour
6) 1 egg (beaten)
7) Dried breadcrumbs
8) Oil for deep frying
Cooking Method:
1) Mix the sausage meat with the herbs and seasoning
2) Have the eggs ready peeled and dried
3) Divide the sausage meat in equal portion
4) Pat these out into rounds on a dampened board
5) Place an aegg on each one and fold the sausage meat up around the egg to envelop it completely
6) Roll eggs in seasoned flour
7) Brush with beaten eggs
8) Coat well with the crumbs
9) Fry the scotch eggs in deep oil until the color change to golden brown
10) Cool them before cutting in half
11) Serve with sprig of parsley on a plate
Comments
1) Serve when it is a little bit cold because the egg yolk tends to come out while cutting when it is hot
